Another horological question

Jul 09, 2011,10:51 AM

As I look at my wife's datejust which I believe is a 28mm watch, it makes me wonder about movement sizes.
First I am truly impressed in seeing such a small watch run and be robust. But it leads me to another question.
Is there an optimal size of movement(up or down) where the technical aspects become relatively rate limiting.
Sure I get the large case is not entirely synonymous with caliber size but small case is. What is the optimal size for accuracy and technical construction
Thanks
Again

Pardon the ignorance but after doing some google searches I am still unable to resolve this issue. The other day I wound up a clear backed watch that has been stopped. After couple turns of the crown the wheel began to oscilate and the watch began to run....

A simple explaination...

I will not try and explain it myself because others have done better before me. Try looking here: click here Don

thanks for reminding me again of this:) [nt]

I don't think this is an answerable question, or certainly it would be one with many different competing answers and points of view, mostly uninformed. I think the practical/aesthetic limitations for movement size play a much more critical role as far as ...
