awesome post! will have to re-read this. Have to say that Hublot is really making leaps and bounds with their recent pieces. Ask me a year ago if I would consider Hublot and I would have said no--but now..... As always, thanks for your observations Jason
No problem!

... as always, YMMV Ken
too thick...

If you really want to get a dive watch that goes deep... buy a Pita Oceana that goes as deep as 5,000 meters. But for normal wearing I still find this watch ridiculously thick. I think Hublot makes better watches, that do look good on the wrist.
Well, Pita Oceana 5000 is 21mm thick.....
By: KIH : November 16th, 2011-05:39
... not much difference from this one. There are variety of people in this hobby, thus any brand has to make variety of watches We do respect different opinions here and that makes this world a bit more interesting. Thank you! Ken
Great report ....

I'v seen this stunning piece in Europe last week. Its amazing on reality but unfortunately too big for my 6,75" wrist :-( Thanks for sharing ......
I agree with Rei...
By: KIH : November 16th, 2011-05:23
.. my wrist is 6,45" and I thought I could wear this proudly. Your wrist is much bigger and shouldn't be too big. This is supposed to look big Ken
Not "Forged Carbon"...
By: Joel77 : November 15th, 2011-16:40
Sorry, but the model should erad "Carbon fiber" not "forged carbon"... other than that, it's a great review!
Okay, clarification...
By: KIH : November 16th, 2011-03:30
Hi Joel, Actually, all carbon (regardless of pattern) by definition is forged. The difference is Hublot forges layers of woven carbon fibers together, while AP for example use random, loose fibers and compress them ALL together. Hope this clears it up! Be...

I just tried to make a difference in the techniques involving carbon fibers... that, of course, have different results in finishes, even in ageing...
Not forged.
By: BDLJ : November 21st, 2011-23:16
I think I've pressed this point in the past on the AP forum. No matter the composition of the carbon fibres, the process is just a moulding, not a forging. Forging is a very specific process aimed at aligning the grains in metal to the general shape of th...
I guess it's thick for a reason
By: SirJean : November 16th, 2011-05:17
It definitely looks like a beautiful watch in my opinion. The thickness and the size is not really a major issue because there are much larger watches out there such as the U-boat Flightdeck 55 mm that still looks fine on the wrist. It all depends on who'...
Have fun!
By: KIH : November 16th, 2011-05:25
If you don't plan on diving too deep, don't worry about it Besides, you should have license or dive with instructors, right? Have fun out there! It must be so nice to bring in the camera in the waterproof case and take things in the sea....... Ken
Perfect! Surprised? Read on......

As an 'olde school' collector, I remember when Crocco's original Hublot model (quartz movement and later mechanical) combined form and function with a credible story. First rubber strap on gold watches that could be worn by Kings and Princes under a tuxed...
Agreed!

It is good to have choices, definitely! No one is required to love everything we discuss here. And I encourage and appreciate different opinions. It is good to be able to say what we want to say (note: there are some rules here, too, though...) Ken
I agree with MTF.... Thanks Ken
By: SirJean : November 16th, 2011-05:39
It obviously appeals to certain types of people like MTF stated . Thanks Ken. Wish I had the oceanographic 4000, so I could have put it to the test when I go diving lol.
That watch is quite something!
By: SJX : November 16th, 2011-07:52
Somehow I like it even though it is too large for me, and also too expensive. Send my regards to the great staff at the boutique! - SJX
That Hublot Oceanographic 4000 is a massive beast!!
By: AnthonyTsai : November 16th, 2011-08:07
Do you know how it feels on the wrist in comparison to any of the Panerai 1000m Submersibles? Or the Richard Mille RM028 diving watch? This Hublot looks huge but I like the proportions and can't wait to try one on my wrist next time I visit the Hublot BH ...
As far as I remember...
By: KIH : November 16th, 2011-13:16
.. much smaller (diameter wise) than 028 and lighter than Panerai But, yes, you should compare with those two - take into account the price difference, though! Ken
My pleasure, Andrew!

You always cover for me and once in a while let me cover the novelty IMO, this is a very nice looking diver watch! Ken
an diver's excuse to jump into hublot
By: simonlb : November 19th, 2011-20:39
Great review, hadn't read or seen more than a pic till this. definitely a a model then had to include in their lineup. I could see someone who is turned off by Hublot's normally chunky watches and is a diver seeing this model as an good excuse to own one....
Welcome to Hublot forum, simonlb!
By: KIH : November 19th, 2011-22:06
And thank you for your comment. I agree. If you are a diver, this should be definitely one of the candidates for the next watch! Thanks again. Looking forward to your next post here Ken
Nice review

Nice review Ken and great pictures. I personally prefer the carbon version, but this is cool too. Thanks for sharing, Andrew

A very visually arresting and impressive wristwatch! Wouldn't mind seeing it in person someday...
