This is a Ref. 3651

Aug 03, 2014,16:15 PM

This watch is a ref. 3651.  The watch  was produced in 1988 at which time the manufacture used a movement from 1952 that was either assembled at that time and made for a 1463 or was 36 years later assembled from previously manufactured parts and put together with the intent to be housed in a completely new ref. 3651 case.  This case is obviously more "chunky"than the 1463 and has other notable differences such as a completely flat and significantly wider bezel, larger pushers and a significantly larger crown.  It is thought that somewhere between 3 and 12 of these ref. 3651 chronographs were made .  However, only two known examples exist and they are sequentially numbered.  This would suggest that the numbers manufactured are likely to be much closer to 3 than 12.

Thank you for looking and thank you for the kind words about these watches.

Is not often seen. First time I see it. What ref is that ? As for the Ref 3651, if only 3~12 were ever made, they must be very expensive and collectible... First time seeing it too !

speechless and hands down
