I agree, 6204 was released before 6200 which is only from '54 and not first. P.S. This is my "honest" 5510 ...........

What was the first Submariner?

I was reading Skeet and Urul's "Vintage Rolex Sports Models" last night and was fascinated by the section on the origins of the Submariner. So, it seems, there is a debate about which reference was actually first released by Rolex, and which therefore can...

maybe 6200 was first released....

6204 was first...6200 1 year later

My 6204's have '53 casebacks, something we NEVER see with 6200's rg.P

A continious mystery... but I will say first out 6204

Production of the Submariner model(s) started in 1953 The first produced was… one day we may find out! Till today I do not think there is any irrevocable evidence which proves which model was first ‘out’ between the two Submariner: Ref: 6205 and Ref 6204....

So, there seems a general consensus that 6204 came before 6205. That would make sense given the reference sequence. But that 6200 definitely came after 6204. The pictures here are wonderful. A fabulous reference.....

6204 and 6205.... any more pictures?
