I will have to agree with you.....

I also like the 3 color newmans over the panda 6263s.  However my favorite is the 3 color black RCO 6240 or 6263.  Mine is a 1.6 million 6239 and it came with a steel bezel but I prefer the 6241 look better. So I asked Roberto to install an acrylic balaclava bezel and I have original spare steel insert also. Here is a pic.....

Thanks for the compliments!! And yes Newman is pure enjoyment on the wrist ;-)

Anything planned for the weekend? Rolex 6239 PN for me

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 8th, 2014-08:09
This one has come out to play for the weekend....and I know its Thursday, but it feels like Friday! I know exactly what Nicolas means when he talks about the PN. If i hadn't jumped on this one 5 or so years ago, I am not sure I could have the nerve to jum...

Absolutely, Joe. Some 12 / 14 years ago, it was priced like a 5508, nowadays.

 By: amanico : May 8th, 2014-08:22
At that time, I was tempted but awfully worried to get a re assembled one, so, I passed on it, and I missed the train which has long gone without me. A cool Dayto, for sure, which brings a lot of pleasure to their owners. Best, and enjoy yours! Nicolas

Yep....

.....5 years ago I had to really think carefully about taking this plunge....for me the first really expensive Rolex. At the time, yes, I was very concerned. I remember well Marcello giving me an email telling me the watch was original and absolutely corr...

Next time we meet, try to bring it with you!

 By: amanico : May 8th, 2014-08:48
I still have nice souvenirs of this one... And till don't know if I prefer the black on White, or White on Black... Please don't say both! ...

the white dial is more of a summer variant to my mind....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 8th, 2014-08:51
.....whereas the black is one that is easy to wear through the year. I think, on balance, I prefer the black dial. I am definitely a fan of the 6239 pump pusher

Train has left BUT

By: Le Monde Edmond : May 8th, 2014-15:17
sometimes we should jump on a moving train. What I mean is that yes the prices of PN have gone up substantially. But quite frankly I don't see that changing. It will only get worse. Icons appreciate over time. Yes you might get a chance to buy a nice watc...

It is indeed a matter of passion. But when I think that a PN is 3 Duometres ( Chrono / QL

 By: amanico : May 8th, 2014-21:21
and UTT ), I can't, I just can't think of getting one... Still, it is a matter of love, passion, and you are absolutely right on that! But for me, I think it is too late. Best, Nicolas

Dear Edmond, I just jumped onto this so called moving train......

 By: Ac.rolex : May 8th, 2014-22:56
Needless to say but I am ecstatic about this purchase ). A little temptation for others to take the leap..... Best Atin ...

Well done

By: Le Monde Edmond : May 9th, 2014-00:56
Atin, Your example with the white dial and 3 color dial with red outside second track is among my favourite PN. I think vintage Rolex is all about colors - that is the strength of Rolex. That is why I prefer your reference over the more expensive (and per...

I will have to agree with you.....

Perfect fit?

By: Le Monde Edmond : May 10th, 2014-10:02
I have always wondered why do Rolex collectors have a weakness for Porsche? It is very noticeable. Yes both have some similarities. The 911 and Rolex are timeless Icons. Both have evolved but never changed too much. But vintage Ferrari and vintage Rolex. ...

Hi edmond,

I guess you are spot on . porsche and vintage rolex are timeless design icons. It is a natural fit. :-)))) Best Icemsn

It is hard to close out on GMT's as there is always another to go for.

 By: Bill : May 11th, 2014-06:57
I am not sure if you noticed but the tropical is an occ.

It was the radial part I discovered.

 By: Bill : May 11th, 2014-07:07
But not when I bought the the watch I only was aware of the double Swiss. I discovered more recently the the radial aspect. Bill

You will have to show it to me, next time we meet.
