Incoming...after a few years of searching for a good specimen

This just in early this week - I've been searching for this specific series that had the older 3185 movement and the drilled lugs, but so far, it's either badly beaten up or just the newer versions which didn't speak too loudly to me. I've not been a huge...

Congratulations on a great choice

Classic lines and a real stand out. Enjoy the watch. PS - Any other Rolex watches on your horizon?

Not at this time, Bill :-)

The platinum bezel YM perhaps, but there are still other targets to pursue, but who knows. Thanks for the nice comments. Richard

But as you know Rolex can be habit forming. Enjoy the weekend with your new Rollie. Bill

I can understand the habit forming part...dropped by my parents today and couldn't resist a family shot. I'm thinking some things might change around here in due course ;-) Thanks for the appreciation of my small collection, Bill. HAGWE! Richard ...

I was almost giving up, but I'm a happy man now...

Nice choice...and I am curious to hear whether the watch meets your expectations. Having looked for one for so long, its always interesting to hear of subsequent experience. Best Joe

Time will tell, and I'll be sure to let you know

Thanks for the welcome. I seem to also notice that the Explorer II in all guises is not very popular out there. I see it a lot less in the wild than the submariner and GMT Master

Congrats and this looks great on you!

I know too little on the various Explorer versions to comment but knowing you Richard and your love for watches and the details, I'm sure you made a great choice in choosing this version. Nice phone shots! May your new Rolex always bring you joy when you ...

Thanks, Robin...

This particular version to me has a little of the original warmth in the case, and I like some of the quirky characteristics of this movement. Given time, I'll write up an ownership perspective, and I'm sure this one is going to see a lot of happy times w...

Great to read you like it so much :)
