Share your first or your most recent Rolex

 By: Baron - Mr Red : November 18th, 2014-02:42
I am lucky enough to still have my very first Rolex...a GMT 16710. Ironically, the last modern Rolex I bought was also a GMT...the 116710. A neat symmetry here...and essentially 10 years between the purchases. So often, we let our first Rolex go...I did.....

My first

and I still own it ...

Hardly wear it anymore

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : November 18th, 2014-06:38
due to the arrival of a white dialed Nautilus which slowly became my daily beater (was meant to be the rol of the Milgauss). But I will try to make a vintage out of it in order to finally get some kudo's in this group ;-)

Quite right!! LoL

 By: Baron - Mr Red : November 19th, 2014-02:12
.......to still own your first after 40+ years. Already one other member on this forum. But this has to be a very exclusive club

It was also a daily wearer until 2001

 By: Bill : November 19th, 2014-11:15
At which point it was replaced with another Rolex. Unfortunately the vintage bug in 08 lead me to a trade for a Tudor 7924 big crown. Oh well the first one is a keeper and still running strong only serviced once on 2000. Bill

AMAZING

By: Le Monde Edmond : November 22nd, 2014-09:23
That is really splendid Bill. Who keeps a watch that long today? Nobody. 40 years is fantastic. I salut you and find this fantastic! My respect and all the best Edmond

I wore it every day for 17+ years never serviced during the period

 By: Bill : November 22nd, 2014-09:52
Only got serviced in 2000. With the leather strap it now has a cool vintage look. Bill

 By: S F : November 19th, 2014-06:57
My first was a DSSD in 2012. It was a last piece at a "good" price in a shop at Interlaken (I truly believed the lady, lol). I started reading about vintage (or maybe "old" rolex as I recall reading here that vintage means 4 digit model nos.) esp the GMT ...

Shooting from the hip...clearly...

 By: Baron - Mr Red : November 19th, 2014-07:08
......keep shooting here! You have amassed a very nice collection already. What are you looking at adding?

Sincerely..

 By: S F : November 19th, 2014-07:40
or more like hopefully a 6542, another 16750 with diff patina, a 16760, maybe a 16700 and along the way a 116710 blnr for sure but this one no hurry because it is not old 'nuff......:) Oh no....all these numbers are ringing in my head.

I love your GMT Trio a lot. Very good idea.

 By: amanico : November 19th, 2014-09:48
Now, you " need " to ge a bit deeper in time, on the 1675, unless you would like to directly go to the 6542! Best, Nicolas

H....great backdrops ....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : November 19th, 2014-09:18
......and beautiful pairing of first and last.... I guess the beauty with a "last" watch is that it is a movable feast! Who knows what is next!!!

I bought my first and second

 By: TS1987 : November 20th, 2014-06:13
within a 12 month period. First was a '97 SD4000 which I've shown before, the second was a white dial Milgauss I bought new this year in April. I'm up for another one in March 2015 and hoping to be able to get a BLNR.

Bad pics :(

You are a latecomer to the Rolex world. Would not have thought that given your age. Do you start off collecting other brands first like JLC, Patek etc? Nice that you bought it back. I bet that watch will not be parting from you ever again. Best Edmond

yep...started JLC in 1990

Funny enough, my first would have been a 16610LV, for which an order and a payment had been placed, but before making a trip to pick it up, a great 1675 came along thanks to a friend of mine who was offered it to, he passed and in turn offered it to me. T...

.....by FAR the most popular watch in the world is the Rolex Submariner. Yet, so many collectors on this forum have a GMT as their first Rolex.

I wonder why

By: Le Monde Edmond : November 24th, 2014-10:14
Well I remember when I was 18 I think it was either a GMT or Submariner that young people wanted. I did not have a choice- I just wished for a Rolex and could not chose what I wanted since it was meant to be a surprise. Maybe that is why I have such a wea...
