Mark, my father recently gave me his 1680 Red Sub and I have been trying to learn as much about it as possible. It is in great condition, has original paperwork and boxes and, while it's not currently on the watch, I have the original fat font bezel inser... 

In response to your post, the end pieces were just swapped...or at least that's what it sounds like. The end pieces come apart from the main bracelet so you can just swap them back if you'd like.
