Baselworld 2014: Part 2 Tudor

Oh those Tudor boys sure know how to make  watch. Once again they have tugged at the heartstrings of watch collectors. And know I can reveal the secret of heir success.....they are watch collectors too! They are purists through and through, I realised that when they went nuts over my double red and retaliated by bringing out a Tudor Large crown!

Once again we evolution drawing on the DNA of the past to produce a modern watch.

Black bay Blue:

A new colour, inspired by the bezel of a vintage snow flake MN 1975 -

it hits the sweet spot nicely, and a perfect complement to the burgundy original. I can also reveal, finally Tudor will be available in the UK from September!

oh that large crown.....

delicious isn't it.... smile

now for something new...the Tudor Heritage Ranger

For me this is the spiritual successor to the 1016 Explorer 1. The watch is 41mm, yet wears like a 39mm! It comes with a bund strap, which has a recess to allow no gap between the strap and the case back. it also has an alcantara  backing to make it skin friendly even in humid or hot conditions. It also comes with a funky camo nato strap, in which the camouflage pattern is actually woven in, not printed on. This is going to be an absolute hit.

The luminous markers are hand painted on!

Finally a new elegant dress watch. A beautiful watch at a great price point.

A perfect watch for work.

Hope you enjoyed this Tudor review.

Best

Imran

Positive a priori which has to be confirmed in the real. Best, Nicolas

.....I rely onTudor to "wow" me on heritage. This year, it is Rolex with the GMT and Sea-Dweller that got my "wow" going. My initial feeling on the Tudors was...Uhhhm. Now, I know that isn't totally fair as one should never truly judge a watch until it ha...

I would like Tudor to 'wow' me with innovation...

in design and lay off the 'new retro vintage' some. The new blue Black Bay is nice...and the Grantour, Fastrider and Pelagos are great, but let's see some risk taking in design. The new simple watch is something I can buy from a hundred different brands. ...

Not so alone there...

......i said exactly the same on the Ranger. Trouble is, i doubt Tudor can do the innovation route...i am just not sure they have that capacity. So, if one is left with heritage, it had better be stupendously good heritage stuff.

Certainly Tudor can't innovate with movements...

they would lose the reason they exist. I certainly think they can be edgier in design; I thought their collaboration with Wallpaper magazine signaled this direction but I am afraid that I am wrong about that.
