Do you have a Rolex obsession?

Sep 22, 2014,07:29 AM

And by this question, I mean is there a specific reference that dominates your focus? Something that calls to you more than any other type of reference within Rolex?

I can think of one GMT obsessive. I can think of a guy who loves his Submariners. If you are a member of this forum, then there is a clear chance that you will have an obsession! Which one is it?

For me....thanks to the history the watch has within Rolex, its place within diving history and the very echo of its DNA-tool features, the Sea-Dweller is my king.

Five 1665s and two 16660s. One for every day of the week!!

I am obsessed by a watch, not a reference, at the exception of the GMT MASTER.

For example, I am obsessed by finding a Milgauss 1019, a 1665 MK II PP, a 6200. Not really by Milgauss or SD or BC in general. But I am not really a Rolex Collector. Nice topic! I would be interested to read what are our friends'obsession(s). Best, Nicola...

Absolutely, you got it. [nt]

... Submariners, both by Rolex or Tudor. But lately I have been bitten by the obsession of GMT´s too. GMT´s can be as adictive as Subs! By the way... This week end I have been enjoying my last Sub catch found a few weeks ago... Lume has turned a very dark...

GMT's

My dear friend Abel, You said it correctly! GMT's can at least as addictive as submariners. Maybe even more so as you can play with color MUCH better with GMT's as you can with Submariners. Nice to see that submariner and GMTs are both your addictions.......

Thank you dear Edmond for your comments! Completely agree...

... that GMT have the additional charm of the touch of color of their coke or pepsi bezels and the GMT hour hand. Definitively GMT´s are a great object of obsession! Cordial regards, Abel.

No, it was inside you! ;) [nt]

Adopted sheep

Joe, Not surprised to read this post from you. You clearly like the 'adopted black sheep' of the submariner family. Thats ok. To each his own. Although I understand close to zero of the SD family other than the double red is usually what collectors keep o...

I think such serial number proximity is great...

 By: Baron - Mr Red : September 23rd, 2014-01:13
.....one of the things that attracted me on the pair of Mk1 DRSD Patent Pendings in my gang was the fact that the two watches have consecutive serial numbers...yep, just one digit...and that the two divers who were gifted the watches from Rolex knew each ...

You see

Hey Baron, I Wouldn't Say I'm Obsessed By Rolex But...

... I would say that having a couple of noteworthy's is a good part of any collector's quiver. The very first 'real watch' I purchased was a Rolex Submariner back in 1986, and I posted my first PuristPro topic about this very timepiece - I still have it ...

I too have OCD but also ADD ;-D

 By: daytonaman799 : September 22nd, 2014-18:35
So i don't get obsessed by one model but by a driving desire for a model at the time. That means i have obsessed over SD's. Both COMEX and non COMEX. Lately i have become obsessed by the Exp II, in particular the SAS commission, I have also obsessed over ...

From 1665s to 16600s, the finest reference Rolex ever made. You just can't beat them. They truly are the best. And Baron - that is one STUNNING COLLECTION! Wear them all in good health (even at the same time if you wish!) -Mike

.. I like to look on them, try them, and like to wear those and to enjoy them : - although I've got more GMT's than my few Subs, and also I do enjoy my modern ones, I'll just consider me a Rolex lover, maybe an aficionado.. but not really a collector.. St...

For me, the primary "theme" is GMT/travel. I am a sucker for those and that is where my eye usually gravitates. I think this is because I love to travel, and do a fair amount for work and pleasure. I also think there is some romance to a watch which track...

This is a wonderful theme!
