Let's dream a bit. Show your No Crown Guards Subs!

Nov 16, 2014,03:08 AM

Now, it is up to you, guys... No Crown Guards you own, or you are dreaming about!

Best,

NicolasI have only two:

This 5508, with an incorrect insert, but things will be solved at the end of this year.

And the Tudor 7924:

Now, some which I saw, in these last years...

Joe's 5508, one of the most beautiful:

One I saw in So Cal, with a cool caramel dial:

A very cool 7924:

Another 7924 with a nice Brown dial:

A 7924 Argentinian Army ( ARA ) which I try to buy:

And another project I have, this delicious 7922:

Aaah, and last but not least... My absolute dream, Rolex 6200:

Now, it is up to you, guys... No Crown Guards you own, or you are dreaming about!

Best,

Nicolas

Jus dreaming...

 By: dr.kol : November 16th, 2014-04:34
I was just offered a 5508 with papers @ € 40k meaning that I'll focus on a bit more realistic watches and keep dreaming. This Joe's watch looks like a dream! Best, Kari

the 5508 or the 6200?!?!?

 By: Baron - Mr Red : November 16th, 2014-05:36
Both!

This one:

5508 It's easy to say "no" to such a watch with box & papers. Best, Kari ...

Very nice indeed

A 4L 5508 is something you don't see that often. Especially with a dial in that condition. Would you care to disclose who might be selling this watch? ;) You can PM if you like. Best Edmond

Please tell me that it looks awful!

Best, Kari ...

Should I?

 By: dr.kol : November 16th, 2014-06:15
I do not own even one tool. Should I start from Geiger Counter? Best, Kari

Like it much less now actually

By: Le Monde Edmond : November 16th, 2014-10:35
The other picture was much better. The hands don't look gilt enough for my taste. I know the 5508 is a later model than the 6536-1 so the hands moved away from being the golden gilt to the more silver looking hands that are also common on very early 5512....

Thank you for your comment -

it sounds scary. Best, Kari

In fact, when seeing this picture, you need a 6205.

 By: amanico : November 16th, 2014-06:14
This way, you will have, for sure, one of the first Sub.... ;) Best, Nicolas

Yep....now Edmond owns the nicest 6205 available....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : November 16th, 2014-06:27

You know that pisatchio 5508 of yours...

At the moment I am typing these words, it has been a Virgin year, Watch speaking. I spent most of my time trying to find parts and to service my watches. Which is quite a budget. So, no regrets, but I would like to add at least one Watch, this year! Best,...

Only small crowns

By: Le Monde Edmond : November 16th, 2014-10:26
I have a weakness for them. Elegant. Yet sporty. First a 6205 (ex Joes / Barons) which I bought earliler this year. Closeup of the dial (credit DB). Next a 6205 together with a 6536-1 bought at Bonhams in 2012 Next all four small crown together. Two of th...

Currently enjoying this slim beauty!

7924 Tudor

By: Le Monde Edmond : November 16th, 2014-11:14
Btw Nicolas- seeing your beautiful example makes me think- If I see a similar example- this could well be my first Big crown. The grey faded Bezel insert with the gilt hands are a combination too difficult to resist ;)

Terrific watches my friens! That ARA makes my mouth watering of course!

 By: Subexplorer : November 17th, 2014-10:51
by the way A.R.A means: Armada Republica Argentina, which translates as Navy of the Argentine Republic. These small crowns lack the power of their big crown counterparts, but they surely are cool and sexy timepieces! I got two 5508: my first one with a no...

Beautiful watches, love the small crowns...

Here is my 5508 from 1959 with an exclamation dot, a rare two lines in white and pretty much a flawless mirror dial. Best, Leon ...

Glad to be here, thank you Nicolas... here is one more...

 By: arluha : November 18th, 2014-07:31
This small crown is a favorite from my collection. It's a 6536 from 1955 which is pre 6536/1 model, produced for a very short period of approximately one year. This was the first model made by Rolex to have the depth rating in red. The case is larger then...

Wow, Leon! That one is a grail! Superb, really superb.

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2014-07:46
You can be proud of it. I am speechless, or dead... I don't know well. :) All the best, Nicolas

Thank you Nicolas...

It really is awesome piece.

Rolex 6536 - I had a chance to observe this one in person

 By: Bill : June 11th, 2015-19:17
It is a unique piece. Probably no finer example out there. And because it is a 6536 it has a much bigger feel than the 6536/1 and the 5508. What a great example of the 6536. Bill

Thank you Bill

You've showed me some superb examples, which I probably will never see elsewhere. You have incredible taste, knowledge and a great eye for quality. Amazing collection my friend but I'll never forget your superb 6542. Perfect 10/10 full gloss dial, amazing...

Aaah, you saw Bill's 6542? He is a dangerous guy. ;)

 By: amanico : June 15th, 2015-22:46
And his Watch is not less dangerous, either... A beauty, I agree. Best, Nicolas

Well, that's easy...

Nicholas - your 7924 is my dream, but you already know that! And Bill's twin 5510s are awesome. I would say Baron's 6200 - but I don't think I could even dream THAT big! -Mike

Thanks Amanico. To date this has to be my most incredible 'barn find'. There is of course a story behind it as unbelievable as you can only imagine. Let's just say the original owner chose me to be its custodian henceforth, and as such it has no monetary ...

The story behind this 5508 started with a phone call, completely out of the blue. A gentleman I've never met before, called me up and said I came recommended to 'be of service' to him. So I met him the following day. After lengthy discussions about life a...
