GMT-Master II, Pepsi Cerachrom bezel

Feb 23, 2015,14:32 PM

Friends,

I just like to share some shots of the new White Gold GMT-Master II with “Pepsi” bezel.

This was the first time I saw this one in real.

I was very excited when I heard that Rolex would make a blue/red bezel to the GMT II, but when I found out that it was only for the White gold case I was less excited due to the hefty price tag that comes with the WG case/bracelet…

To me the colors are a bit too “pastel” and not as bright as I would have expected.

The colors become a bit brighter with the flash, but still not really “Pepsi” to my eyes…

What do you think? OK? Good? Great? Could be done better…?

Is there any technical issues to make the colors brighter when it comes to Cerachrom?

Best

To tell the truth, I never understood why it is so tough to make a blue red bezel.

I find it is ok, even if I still have to see it in the real. I would have loved to see it on a steel version. I would have got it! Like you, paying so much because it is in white gold is a no go, for me. For this price I could get this bloody Duometre, in...

Would be interesting to know...

If there are technical issues to make blue/red? If we look at the black/blue, the blue is also less bright in colors.... Best Blomman

I also think the price tag is hefty for that type of watch

as it's a very casual looking watch. Just like an explorer and submariner. And the chosen metal has more or less the same colour as steel. So one could ask themselves: where is the differentiation? Saw it live a couple of weeks ago and I must say that it ...

Congrats on your 400 post, Arie! :)

As for your point - yes, I should try to have a more open mind and look at the watch for what it is without comparing it to the vintage... Problem is that I like the vintage better due to the colors... Best Blomman

tnx

did not realize I was yada yada yada-ing so much...

If only it was a matte black dial...

.... like the new seadweller. It would have been much nicer, also works better with the matte colors of the bezel.... AND it would have been a little different from the steel version.

Congrats on your 1K post, Fricks! :)

Yes, I think you have a good point here, matt dial would probably made this one look better! :) Best Blomman

that I share your views :) Colours are bit disappointing One thing that interest me is how hefty is once strapped to wrist? Yours D

Ah, my Croatian gemini ! :)

I can tell you it is quite heavy! Will know when this piece is on your wrist! :) Best Blomman

I think that I would rather

equal its weight with 5-7 other pieces ;) Yours D

Funny, but as you mentioned "not bright enough"..I checked with my black/blue "Bruiser" &

.. There is no comparative effect ( " toning down") in color: both, the black and the dark blue absolutely stand out, and with some light reflection even more so; in fact sometimes, the intense blue almost turns into black.. Maybe it has to do with the ce...

Personally I would have preffered the blue...

Very happy that we all have different taste! Imagine if we all wanted the exact same watch... ;) Best Blomman

Colors on the ceramic are a bit muted indeed...

...naturally, but white gold is much warmer looking than stainless steel, especially on the PCLs. I think the combination is beautiful. However, as a sports watch with this price tag, it's pretty hard to justify the purchase, many near-perfect watches out...

Yes, white gold has a much warmer tone...

Love it in the right place. For me, this is a too much tool watch to go with WG for my taste. But, I think it is a good strategy for Rolex to make watches in more precious metals as well as steel. Would be interesting to see this one YG. Would it work...?...

I like the watch a lot. Maybe because I don't want Rolex to make a perfect replica of the old 1675. That would be silly. I like the shade of blue on this WG GMT but I'm disappointment with the price and it's weight. I try out the watch a couple times. It ...

I was told that the bracelet is gold as well...

And Rolex home page also say WG. As for the weight, it was enough for my wrist! :) Best Blomman

White gold, too. [nt]

That is the case for many newer model Rolex watches. Balance is what sometimes is not there. Bill

Indeed, always best to see in real!

Ceramic is not translucent says Dr Monet :-)

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2015-04:46
Brightness of a metal bonded ceramic is the classic issue in dentistry when it comes to natural looking teeth. As this bezel is bonded to metal ( I believe ) it can't be bright in colour. The trick could be an all ceramic bezel from a certain ceramic that...

Thank you for the explanation, doctor! :)
