My most sentimental watch

Apr 18, 2015,00:05 AM

This watch was passed on to me 22 years ago. I was 14 then when my dad passed away (he was only 44). this vintage Rolex Precision is not an expensive nor collectible piece but to me, it is priceless for I can always remember my dad wearing this watch when I was young.

Just serviced this watch. The bracelet links started becoming loose and I fitted it with an aftermarket strap. this is my first OEM strap and now I understand why so many PuristS love to play with straps! It's fun indeed! Gives the watch a new life and new look.

Some pics to share here.
This is my one and only Rolex btw and I love it! I should wear it more often. With a strap, I probably will from now on! smile

Cheers
Robin

I need to wear this more often. Each time I wear it, I see my dad in the watch. It\'s very heartwarming indeed Cheers Robin

Looks great on your wrist.

I think Patek really hit the nail when they advertise about passing a watch "to the next generation". A wristwatch is something very personal and wearing dad's or mom's watch somehow reminds us about the connection on daily basis. Best, Kari

I agree Kari

Mechanical watches outlive us. And our next generations can see us thru these watches we hand down to them. It\'s an awesome feeling! Cheers Robin

Priceless....

Cheap or expensive doesn't matter. The sentimental value is more more important. When I wear my father's watch I feel he is still with me... Constantin

Thanks Constantin!

In my case, it was the start of my tryst with watches - I still wear my Father's 1964 Omega on a frequent basis. It makes me feel grounded. May you have happy memories.... Mally

Funny how watches reminds us who are dear to us. I myself remember my first rolex an airking model given to me by my mother. I was barely 20 yrs of age. Used it on dates with girls , had fun with my airking and the girls. Good clean fun. Best! Geross

Nice story you have Geross!
