The Cellini Prince: a lot of pics!

I had the opportunity yesterday to handle the Cellini Prince (Everose).Of course, when we think about Rolex, in 99% of the cases, we think about the Oysters. But the Cellini collection is quite interesting with some watches which deserve a closer look.I must confess I really think that this Cellini Prince is attractive. This watch has excellent finishings (case, dial, caliber). Of course, we can think that the case is a bit too thick (we can say the same about the hands) but finally, and it's a bit surprising...

Explorer II 1655 First Generation

I luched with some friends, today, and one of them had with him this beautiful 1655...I'm turning Vintage, Guys, I'm afraid to say it! LOLThis is a very nice Explo so called Steve Mac Queen. The dial is sporty and elegant, with a very strong look. The bezel is, IMO, nicer than the one of the actual 16 570.This big Arrow is so sexy! Here are the pics, taken in the Restaurant...Ala Nicolas..LOL Hope you like these pics!Best.Nicolas ...

Submariner and Traditional GMTII (16710) Comparison

Here is another one of my Rolex comparisons off my website.  Do a search for Sheldon Smith Rolex and you'll find the others as well as other tidbits.  This review is a couple of years old, but still valid. -Sheldon    The Rolex Submariner and the GMT II With the Anniversary editions of the GMTII now released, there has been much discussion on the older, now “classic” GMTII that is still widely available. My GMT II D serial I have had since March 2006 aft...

An underated Rolex: The Explorer II

I never understood why this 16 570 was underated. The White dial? The Model in itself?I always loved it, and even more with the white dial, as we don't often see white dialed Rolexes...This one has a particular story. In 1996/ 1997, an Expedition was organized to the North Pole, in the Norvegian Part of the North Pole, to be more precise...This was a scientific Expedition, and some people was invited to join this trip, as Photographers, Artists, etc...As a Tradition, Rolex provided to each member of this Exp...

Rolex Green Milgauss Photo Essay and 1st thoughts

This Green Mil Gauss is a surprising watch.I remember my thoughts when I saw it first in pics, last year during the Basel Fair...I found it strange, a bit freakie with all these colors, and not that appealing...Till my AD gave me a call to ask me to pay him a visit, with a surprise ....It was the surprise. Not that I find it very appealing nor beautiful. Review of the Rolex small crown James Bond Submariner

The Rolex small crown James Bond Submariner     History   The production of the Rolex Submariner started in 1953 and the watch was first presented to the public at the Basel Fair in 1954 under reference 6204. This watch is generally considered as the first modern diver’s watch, together with the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms which was issued the same year.     The design of the Submariner was based on the already existing Turn-o-graph ref. 6202: it had ...

The Rolex GMT 1675… Pepsi on my PanAm flight please

It was in the early 80s that my parents decided to take me and my sis all the way to Disneyland. No need to say which one it was as at the time as I believe there was only one then and it was in Los Angeles. What this meant is that at 8 years of age I flew to San Francisco from Singapore on a mostly forgotten airline known as Pan American airways. I also remember rather vividly that they provided me and my sister with very fun coloring kits and cool model plastic planes that I really enjoyed and the stewa...

A new watch in the basket !

I was leaving for holidays - the kids in the car and the bikes on the roof - when I got the call from my watchmaker "your watch is ready".
