 By: DrStrong : November 30th, 2010-03:52
"No other watch has captivated the Rolex collector as the Sea Dweller. Born as a tool watch in 1967, it was everything that Rolex knew about dive watches incorporated into one watch. " Initially based on a regular submariner case and before the HEV patent...

Like you, I also believe the SD is one of the most iconic Rolex watches. The history behind the evolution of this watch is stunningly interesting. This is a superb illustration of this history and how it has developed. Thank you for posting it. For sure, ...

We share the same love for these SD's my friend ! [nt]

...demonstrate that ridiculously large cases are not required to achieve amazing (and realistic, in this case, as it was made at the behest of Sat divers, not marketing departments) depth ratings. Great post, Dr Strong. Does anyone have access to the Heli...

Thank for posting..... However, I do wonder about your staring statement..... I always thought that it would be the Sub or the Daytona that captivated the Collector most... Cheers

The Sea Dweller IS a Submariner

 By: DrStrong : December 1st, 2010-12:51
as it says on the dial...." Submariner 2000" ... But a professionnal, upgraded, ultimate version of the Submariner. Back in the late 1960's, who needed (and who still needs) a 2000 ft waterproof watch with a Gas Escape Valve ?...

True....I was referring to the original submariner.
