Mark Mathews . . .
By: Dr No : September 17th, 2019-15:12
. . . aka Rovermark passed away a week ago. He was an active member of this community for several years, although not so much in the recent past. He was, however, a regular attendee of our So Cal alphabet soup gang gatherings, and his interest in horology...
Finally found a few pics of Mark in my files . . .

. . . from an alphabet soup gathering back in summer of '14. [Kevster, seated; Mark sipping a Coke; Elliot55 looking as though a mouse had scurried by; mkvc distracted] ;-) ...
RIP, Mark!

I never knew him but if we can ever hope to achieve a measure of immortality, it is through the words and memories of those who knew us. It sounds like he was a wonderful person. Taken too soon. Sad day!
Rest in Peace, Mark...

I had the good fortune to meet him about 9 or so years ago while visiting LA. He was extremely amicable to the point of even giving AndrewD and I a ride back to our hotel in his very cool vintage Land Rover. Condolences to all who knew and were near and d...
A true collector & man of wildly divergent interests
By: cazalea : September 17th, 2019-16:17
Mark and I hit it off at our first meeting. He was fortunate to have earned a fair chunk of money and had enough time to indulge his interests. If I remember correctly he didn't drink alcohol or eat meat, so didn't dive into the richest ends of the culina...

Absolute gentleman. It was a pleasure to have known you briefly, always great to chat watches, cars and everyday life. RIP.

this is heartbreaking news. It was obviously way too early.
That is overwhelmingly sad, Art

And I even understand from Mikes post that he was a person who tried to live a healthy life. I feel so sorry for dear Mark. Christian
Very sad to hear the news.

He was true gentleman and a patron of the horological arts. May his soul rest in peace and we celebrate his life everyday here on the site talking about what he loved dearly. Bill
Very sad news.

But, it appears, a life well lived and enjoyed. Rest in peace.

But by the same token heartwarming to see that our forum pays tribute to its members and shows human compassion during such sad moments. I’ve never had the honor to know or read anything from Mark, yet through this forum I share the pain and my thoughts a...
Incredibly Sad News...

Mark will be sadly missed by us, taken by this cruel disease that has no respect for anyone. Thankfully Art you went to see him before he left us, I’m sure that this will have been of great comfort to him to know that you and others cared. I have personal...

.... Mark was a beautiful and generous soul. He always brought the salty language factor and we loved him for it. A super great guy who will be missed. Tonight we raise our glasses to RoverMark. - Scott
