Straps

Hi Sponon,

Of course it's your watch and you're free to do as you please with it, but from my own experience, I think JLC has put in a great deal of thought to the overall look of the piece and its strap, and the standard strap works the best. It's really tempting to try to improve on perfection (I have tried myself) but it can't be done.. Still, if you are tempted, have a look at the pics below and make your judgement. I had this custom strap made for my MUT 34mm - it's a beautiful special alligator in greyish blue, with curved ends, and slightly thicker than the OEM strap. It's great in all respects, but I still think the thin, high gloss strap my MUT came with looks more appropriate...

Best, JatG (and sorry to bore those who have seen these old pics before).

OEM straps for MUT Moon 39

The straps on this model is quite thin/flat. Would it look strange with a thicker strap like the one on Master Chronograph? My concern is that the strap would be higher than the lugs.

Definitely, it would look strange.

An " Ultra " Thin watch needs an ultra thin strap. It would not an elegant outcome to see the strap being higher than the lugs or the case! Best, Nicolas

So it would be higher than the lugs?

Choice of straps. It will not fit with the delicate lugs. Best, Nicolas

OEM straps work actually

Nicolas, I actually saw a MUT Moon with a standard thickness OEM strap at the boutique and it worked beautifully. It was reddish brown made for another customer who hadn't picked up their MUT Moon yet. I noticed it was not too thick to remain elegant and ...

It won't look "bad,"....

it'll just end up being closer to the thickness of the case, rather than the lugs. A good eye would notice it; most won't. -Dean

my original strap is to the point where it can no longer even be called matte, just worn and I've been looking for 17mm straps. JLC charges way too much for comfort for their straps despite the beauty and quality.

Here's mine with a dark brown strap....

.... It comes with a tinge of red, which I absolutely adore. When I purchased the MUT Moon in rose gold, I thought it was perfect except for the strap. Not that there was anything wrong with it, but I thought a lighter shade of brown would bring out the r...
