I've got a black one on order...........but Rolex as always has a trick up its sleeve

Dec 12, 2016,06:01 AM

all the local dealerships have closed their order books long ago for these watches............guess what Rolex does is give 6 months notice to at least four local  dealerships including mine..they are reducing significantly the density in the UK this will be about 10 dealerships in the NW alone that have gone in the last decade...only having a presence in major cities fortunately Preston is quite local, but the next dealership south will be Manchester and travelling north will be Glasgow nothing in between.

So unfortunately I wont be getting a Daytona before my current dealer lose their franchise.........fortunately the only local dealer has opened their list for me and is talking to Rolex about the waiting lists for the other dealerships that are being closed and whether their allocations can be switched. to them, if so they will open up their lists for others who will lose out as a result of their dealer losing their franchise.............

Not good, I hope Rolex is accomodating and does the right thing by its customers.

regards

John

Hands on review of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN (2016)

But how can I write about this watch, perhaps the most famous one in the world when everything was written and written again since the presentation of its latest version during the 2016 edition of Baselworld? Maybe just by stepping back and write about it...

Excellent review FX

One point that I never hear anywhere, but something that just hasn't sat right with me since Rolex started doing it.... The numbering on the bezel. I don't know the best way to describe it, but the numbering rotates around the dial, as opposed to all of t...

Interesting that you have gone from favoring the white to the black dial.

I had been convinced the white was the way to go. Then about a week ago I saw a black-dialed version and thought it was very striking. Now I am up in the air about which I like better.

I think people

at first tend to favor the white dial as it contrasts well with the black bezel. Then seeing the black dial makes them hesitate to decide..

Thanks for your excellent review!

The Daytona has always been a special Tolex to me. On a funny side note in one of the companies I used to work at the sales staff could be reliably ranked according to the Rolexes they wore, with the boss of course sporting the Daytona. To the current gen...

i have always been a fan of black dials and this is no exception. Thank you for the review, Fx!

Very interesting review, Fx.

I was especially interested in reading your comments on your feelings about the black and white version. And how the black won. Still, I prefer the white one, which, like you, I find sportier. And sporty is a word which works very well for the Daytona. I ...

I think we should do a re-poll...

On the white/black issue. I also favor the black at this point!

Why not, indeed? [nt]

Thank you for that excellent review...

... I\'m also now in two minds as to which version I prefer. Though, I\'m going to stick with my first feeling: the white, however, the car you\'ve just made for the black is very compelling. Very compelling indeed. Super reading!!! Julian

Thanks for the review.

Never been a huge fan of the Daytona, but I have to say that the new one felt great on my wrist and I liked it a lot. Damn it. Cheers Vte ...

Great report on a significant release for Rolex.

For most brands, such a change would be insignificant, but IMO, this is huge for the Daytona. Ceramic bezel is well overdue. I do think the black sundials might be a bit stark, but it's still an incredible piece. It's nice to see the Daytona moving forwar...

Flip-flop between the white and the black...good thing is the wait list is so long there is more than enough time to make up my mind!

Interesting reading your opinion on that dial

I love the Daytona and never had one but still looking at them. I was thinking about this new ceramic bezel and didn't know if I would prefer this one to the steel version available for the previous generations. When a new version arises, it is always eas...

I appreciate the balanced remarks.

I'll admit Fx - I am on the list for the white dial Daytona, and expect to receive it in 2017. But your case for the black dial is quite compelling. When I was a little younger, my decision was sometimes to choose the option that fit my collection better ...

The solution is to definitely have both if possible :)
