What a great topic....

A little bit late to the party but I thought I will chime in as I have first hand experience of the matter.
I own two Subs, both gilt dials.
One 5513 Bart Simpson and one 5508, both in pretty good shape I think.
Agreed, the 5513 is a different beast than a gilt 5512, especially if you consider the king of those , with CR and PCG (or eagle beak) case. But the feeling and wearability is quite comparable, between the 5512 and 5513.
I actually find myself totally agreeing with Edmond here.
The 5508 is perfect for suit and business atire. It is a very discreet watch, that won't be easily noticed by people at large. Its pleasure comes from its elegance and is very personal, very intimate.
The 5513 is the perfect everyday watch. More of a statement, anybody would recognize it immediately as a Rolex, given its proximity with today's model. Mine is actually long overdue for a spa treatment, as it has stopped ticking a couple of months ago. I am actually missing its feel on my wrist a lot recently, and found that replacing it by the 5508 does not do the trick!
As for a BC, this is my grail watch and I can only hope for one at this stage in my collecting life.
Once again great topic Nicolas!
Cheers,
Fabrice.
