From the facts i have learned.

First this is vintage Rolex facts mmmm opinions mmmm. Anyhow, it seems that the all blue inserts ate associated with special orders made by Rolex for "military" more as gifts than battle hardened use. They made special batches for what appears to related to the gulf area. The blue insert and special dials adorned the Rolex 1675 in or around the 1970's.
Rolex did not produce any for the public configurations using the blue insert and it seems there is not part numbers associated with the blue insert or catalog references. It seems that Rolex had excess batches of the blue insert and these have found their way into the Rolex service centers and as such found their way onto civilian watches. These facts seem to line up with the all red hand that is often seen with the blue insert. Why the association i don't know but the service centers may know.
Please take this as opinion as that is all this is. But it seems to explain the civilian vs military special order watches. The blueberry insert is beautiful and those that have the genuine ones should enjoy them.

....I love my wife, but that does not mean i am unable to appreciate the beauty of another woman. My first Rolex was a GMT. I own 2 or 3. But my central focus on Rolex will not be GMT as it doesn't give me that frisson that i get from the divers.
Of course....

Key to understanding the blue insert
By: Bill : February 25th, 2015-19:51
We are basing our assumption on the fact that we assume that the example that circulated at Christies auction, not to long ago, with blue inset and UAE crest dial was in fact produced by Rolex. I don't have supporting docs but there have been a few exmple...

The blueberry insert watches are very nice looking, highly sought after by collectors and as such very expensive. But please be careful as always where there is money to be made non authentic pieces rear their ugly head. Best
