My first love, and still in love today

Oct 28, 2015,08:42 AM

Have always loved the 16520, I have probably owned all the versions at various times, excluding the porcelain which I have seen but never owned. My favourite has always been the black dial, my favourite bezel is the vintage inspired 200 unit, and my favourite dial configuration is the cleaner less cluttered look of the four line.

all of thesae give us in my opinion the absolute rarest version (apart from the odd colour change cream dial, yellow subdials etc)

In some respects, this is the modern version of the 1967 thin case mk 2, both have a more expensive older version (patent pending pink for the 1665, porcelain for the 16520), yet both are unique and rare. In fact perhaps, the perfect Rolex duo?

Yes I am forever in love with this watch.

Best

Imran

If I had to choose one and only one Dayto, it would be the porcelain, and yes, over the Paul Newman. Ouch, I already hear some cries. But this black one is just top, too, Best, Nicolas

The craze for all the older Daytonas stems from the lack of availability of the early 16520's. It forced people to re-examine what was an unpopular watch. Yours is AMAZING. One of my grails. Thanks for sharing.

I am absolutely not surprised by your choice, because...

It is so you! And it is just gorgeous. If I had to pick one for the title of my most favorite Rolex, it would be a vintage, and it would be this one: For its friendly complication, for its sensuality. I have two or three others which are absolute keepers ...

but I have several pictures on my HD which attracts me to the Rolex world. The GMT MASTER 6542 (picture from one of Nicolas' posts): Submariner (don't know the reference) from Anaesdoc, but a nice 5513 would be perfect too: The current modern Daytona with...

One I love as a plain, sober example, but with a nice low-key appeal: Explorer 6610 (1956), gilt, CR The 2nd is a result of a more than 2 yr search & a lucky find in a great condition.. GMT 6542 (1961) So, both are Vintages, both keepers, and both lots of...
