Sadly this is common practice here

ADs even have the audacity to act as if they're doing you a massive favour by offering you one of these hot pieces at a massive premium. To them it's simply good commerce where supply way exceeds demand. I had an AD told me before that the premium was justified because of the amount of undesirable inventory they had to stock, and that a buyer for the hot pieces would be found easily anyway. if not me, there's always the next guy or a grey dealer who's willing to pay the premium. I find it hard to believe that Rolex is unaware of such practice.
Another thing local ADs regularly do is that they ask you to buy less in-demand pieces (often other brands) in order to be allocated a chance to buy a hot Rolex, kind of a deal sweetener to an otherwise unattractive offering.
Very disappointing overall. I respect your decision to decline the offer.
