I am in trouble. I have fallen in love with this:

How many of you already own it? How many have touched it? What do you think?...

I've finally seen it in the real.... Cool one, but....

But at this price, you have serious alternatives.

I wholeheartedly agree but...

...this is a very unique looking piece amongst Rolexes and the contrast of the watch on your wrist from afar is a real beauty.

It does have its charms! [nt]

Cool summer watch

But it's €€.€€€ for what you get. But if you like it and got the budget for it, why not? Do think that depreciation on the long run will be a bit more compared to gold. Just because of the hefty price tag. But again; if you like it that should hold you ba...

Wore it during a full day...

Nice colours but at the end... for the price... I much prefer watches with stronger horological contents. Fx

Even more than the colors...

I find that the feel, the density, the substance, the seriousness in your hand, is incredible. It is an uncomparable TACTILE sensation. "Love at first touch". But then, I am biased, as I adore the magic of platinum. I agree with your point, of course, the...

It's a Daytona for those seeking to pay more...

Since you mention robust and reliable chronograph, ask yourself how many times you will use said "robust and reliable chronograph" to time anything at all. By all means buy it if you love it - there should be no other reasons necessary; and certainly no r...

Mind you, I do use my chronographs quite a lot...

 By: passetemps : September 18th, 2014-00:35
I own a total of 15 chronos (most of them handwound) and i do use them for timing an infinite number of things in my daily life.

The problem

By: Le Monde Edmond : September 18th, 2014-01:04
I have with modern watches including this one is the following: I already know at least 5 friends who have one. More troubling I see the watch everywhere. In Cannes, in Sardenia. And in Zurich where I live, there are literally all over the place already. ...

Uhmm...

Yes...and no. On the one hand, you shouldn't really care what is on someone else's wrist, but only the degree of pleasure driven by what is on your own wrist. On the other hand, if rarity is a key issue for you, what is on the wrist of others will also af...

Rarity is only one criteria

By: Le Monde Edmond : September 18th, 2014-03:51
Joe- I fully understand your point about rarity. Rarity for me is one criteria but also by far not the only one. I also understand your point about being overly concerned what others are doing and what other people wear. I can't help it. I do worry about ...

its fun to go modern...even if its a common watch...

 By: Baron - Mr Red : September 18th, 2014-03:58
.....i think i am about 80% vintage....80:20 still has a skew. I do hear what you are saying, and i empathise with the vintage argument a lot...but I still think sometimes that modern kick is very nice.

60/40

 By: passetemps : September 18th, 2014-04:18
60% of my watches are vintage, historic pieces. 40% are modern. I love them all more or less equally, each one for very specific reasons. But i couldn't care less what others think of the watch i am wearing! I have been learning and collecting for nearly ...

Frank ' I wear the watches that i love, the ones that speak to me, the ones with which i have a sensual and mental connection. This connection can stem from many different reasons: historical meaning, horological meaning, practicality, sensations when hol...

But what throws me off is the looks to be Baby Blue Dial...

It's OK to fall in love with it.

 By: Champthekid : September 19th, 2014-07:18
I can attest that it's an absolutely beautiful watch. Just my personal opinion of course. ...

That's an easy watch to fall in love with.

 By: radone : September 22nd, 2014-21:22
If asked to choose only one watch that I would be allowed to wear for the rest of my life, this one, along with the 5980, is among the chosen ones. R

And I am keeping every word of it!

 By: radone : September 23rd, 2014-11:24
It has strong presence, is robust, easy and quite cheap to service, rare, versatile, looks great. It is a chrono, my favourite complication. What else can I say? You really feel that you have a watch on your wrist... R

Because gold is too soft and...

 By: passetemps : September 23rd, 2014-11:54
...because the color combination of the glacier blue and chestnut brown is unique. Additionally, a gold bezel is too prone to scratches in an "active" watch.

Because I tried it.

 By: radone : September 23rd, 2014-11:59
i put it on my wrist. The mass, the colors, the overall feel are simply breathtaking. Besides, I do not like roman numerals. They make the dial a bit too busy. One of the most impressive watches i have seen. And my expectations were not very high... R

I've tried it too, with the same low expectations...

 By: passetemps : September 23rd, 2014-12:18
...and it was a genuine COUP DE FOUDRE.

Bravo. ;) [nt]

Superbly reasoned!

 By: passetemps : September 23rd, 2014-12:37
And i agree with every word of it.

you made me go see it again

...

And??? ;) [nt]

and the answer is...

... in may latest post on the Vacheron Constantin forum. R

I'm not in love with it...

 By: patrick_y : October 1st, 2014-10:25
It's nice. But, since my funds are limited, I have to only buy things that I REALLY LIKE. And this one doesn't make it to the cut for high priority consideration. At this price level, there are other things that I want that I like more.
