GMT BLeu-NoiR is a must have
Jun 04, 2014,01:01 AM
Hi Baron et al.,
I am not sure if it is correct to respond to a 4 month old thread but i really liked your review of this watch.
As for Rolex, i am a modern-submariner lover. I currently own a WG SubC (116619LB) from 2008 (one of the first ones released) wihich i adore (but i recognize that it can become a bit too shiny at times, so much blue...); and a SubC ND (114060) which is just a perfect mix between practical tool and unpretentious elegance, so easy to wear in ANY circumstance.
Now i have just purchased my first GMT Master IIc, the BLNR, and i am waiting for it to arrive. I admire the elegance and practicity at the same time as i identify it as a future classic...
In my countrly, at night the sky is black and during the day it is blue (normally). This color scheme makes much more sense IMHO than the traditional Pepsi and it is also much more discrete and elegant.
I like the polished links on my WG Sub, they look smart, i don't find that too blingy, although i like the brushed links on my ND too! Now i crave for the same PCL style in steel. A mix of both worlds.
I have no doubt that the BLNR is going to be one of Rolex's enduring classics of all times. A great achievement by a great company which has been continuously offering us serious quality increments in this which i would call "the Cerachrom Era of the Blue Lume and the Solid Links + Solid Clasps Oyster bracelets ".
There are two "poles" in Rolex: the "bling pole" and the "tool pole". To each his own. The BLNR is a very elegant practical and unique tool watch with no pretense of being blingy. I love that comprimise!
Pics and wristshots due soon...
Frank
