I don't know why, and I can't really explain, but I much prefer the stainless steel bezel.

I find the look is cleaner, while Purists may well prefer the bakelite bezel...

Strange!

A Review of the Tudor Homeplate

 By: DrStrong : April 4th, 2013-04:35
I have already presented the early Tudor chronographs in a previous review of my Monte Carlo ref. 7159: Recently, I have been lucky enough to replace my Monte Carlo by a one-owner Tudor Porsche chronograph ref. 7032 and I am proud to present you this wat...

The indispensable tool to drive a vintage car. Even better if it is a Posrche. ;)

Joke apart, these Tudor Chronos are very sensual, the 7159 or this one. Sensual and powerful. It is funny to see how they became Cult Chronographs. Thanks for the nice post, Jeff. Best, Nicolas

Tudor on the track

it works ;-) ...

Any association between the 7032 and Porsche?

 By: amanico : April 4th, 2013-04:55
Yes, it works! Best, Nicolas

Definitely !

Great post of a great watch....

Fascinating detail Jeff.....congratulations on the watch. I have to say, as you know, I have owned a 7031 Homeplate in the past... but alas let it get about a year ago. ...

The bakelite bezel makes it a different watch again...

....and a beautiful example in any case. Thanks for the kind words.

The black bezel...

 By: DrStrong : April 4th, 2013-05:43
...somehow kills the black outside minute track of the dial.

I agree Nicolas and for me as a purist I prefer the SS

 By: SteelerFan1965 : April 11th, 2013-03:37
as it is correct for the 7032. Now if it were a 7031 then the bakelite would work. Either way for me the 7032 w/ SS is tops!! Cheers,

Don't get me wrong. Both are top cool, and it seems that

The Fans prefer it with the bakelite insert, like it is the case with the Vintage Daytos. Still, I prefer, on the Tudor Chronos or on the Vintage Daytos, the stainless steel bezel. Aren't we stubborn? ;) Best, Nicolas

That makes 2 of us!! Cheers, [nt]

I never realized that Porsche had such a long history with Tudor. Thank you for the nice photos Dr. Strong!

I have a few cool ones from the 50s-70s. This one that I was following on eBay surprised me with its final price - didn't end up with me and not in that great condition!! I know Mike Wood's original owner Homeplate came in one of these... Ross :) ...

I have seen those boxes come online and they seem to be correct

 By: Bill : April 7th, 2013-08:47
but they sell for insane prices. If you are lucky to have one great but the price is super high. But as you know us loonies do chase them down but not for the soft at heart chase. I would love to have an original owner confirmation as to where they sold w...

I just noticed that just sold and at a reasonable price

 By: Bill : April 7th, 2013-08:56
That is a lucky bidder. I hope it was you or a fellow collector not a dealer/flipper. Bill

Did this box come with the watch

 By: Bill : April 7th, 2013-08:44
To me this box seems to be the what most original owners tend to have but also it is interesting to know where it was bought to learn more about the box. Best Bill

Superb watch, box and review !

This Monte Carlo is truly one of the most beautiful one could dream of, condition is awesome from any part and angle as show your beautiful photos. Considering this one comes in the most legendary and scarce "homeplate" execution, it is a true collector d...

 By: DrStrong : April 16th, 2013-07:59
....you have a point concerning the "matching" box. The same "rule" applies to the papers.

I remember this great photo. You are right about the box.

Ken enlightened me as to the nickname of this watch. I had never heard Porsche before for the 7032. Here's mine ...

Bad influence indeed
