This Monte Carlo is truly one of the most beautiful one could dream of, condition is awesome from any part and angle as show your beautiful photos.
Considering this one comes in the most legendary and scarce "homeplate" execution, it is a true collector dream, one of the epitome of these 70s racing chronographs.
Indexes are to me the killing detail on this one, never seen this shape on any other vintage watch although they maybe inspired some others racing chronos.
Curiously, I have myself a personal preference for the black bezel which ads even more contrast to the overall visual.
As it comes to the boxes, my understanding is these early Monte Carlo were supposed to come with this orange plastic box so-called "Peanuts box" by some collectors
Here's why when we look at the first drawing
credit : cars & watches
The story says buyers were encouraged to reuse this box to contain peanuts, use it as an ashtray, ...
The topic, "is it the matching box for this vintage watch ?" is a common one discussed many times in many places.
The "real life story" often ends up saying dealers at the time were not very cautious about the type of box they were giving with the watch,
it's even more true if the watch has been sold some years after it's been delivered by Tudor after all, maybe the dealer himself enjoyed the peanuts in one of these ?
In any case a very impressive Homeplate,
thank you for the superb review !
Best,
Laurent
