Lovely summary and very interesting to read your thoughts on these releases

2017 was a great year for new releases for PP I have to admit. If I had to pinpoint to one thing I wish they had done differently it is perhaps a little less blue. I realize blue is the fashion of the moment, I do realize it is an easy color to absorb for most clients, but looking at these are there not a few too many blue dials?
Needless to say the 5650G is a marvel. It is a piece to experience as it is lots better in the real than on photos. A leap forward in my opinion and very cool to make that leap in the Aquanaut range as opposed to the more expected Nautilus.
The 5170P I have had the pleasure of handling and think it is spectacular. Fortunately the blue dial gives me a mental excuse to not want one desperately as my collection is up to capacity in blues for now
. A future classic no doubt and a very nice way to round off the 5170 series.... assuming that is the end of the series of course.
5960G is another spectacularly cool piece. A bit of a reminder of the 5524G but between the two my preference is fairly clear. 5960G any day. And I really like the 5524G I will have to add. But the 5960 series is such a joy to wear. It carries a perfect blend of sporty and elegant. Casual and dressed. And so comfortable. The G is really really cool but again for me, no more room for blue dial incomings so happy I can leave that aside. Had it been a different dial color, say green, I would have been in trouble....
With regards to the A, personally I like the white dial better than the black for some reason. But perhaps if I can see the black dial with a nice soft strap it would change my mind somewhat. Somehow the contrast between the shiny bracelet against the black dial is a bit hard on my eyes. But a strap solution would be an easy fix.....
5131P is super nice. A dream piece. I like the idea of topping off the 5131 series with a colder bracelet version. It is gorgeous to say the least. But not my favorite in this extremely attractive line up of releases this year! And if rumors are true I have no way of being allocating one anyway....
5230G is a cool addition. It is the one piece that I admit does not fully sing loudly to my tastes. I have tried it a few times and as much as I would like to appreciate it the other releases this year mentioned above are far too good so perhaps it gets a bit pushed aside in my mind. No doubt it will be popular for many great reasons.
Again Mark, thanks for the wonderful pictures and sharing your thoughts on these. Especially happy to read your positive thoughts on the 5650G as it is a piece that has been dividing many opinions this year among Patek enthusiasts. Have a great weekend!
