The Rolex has a very stable movement, probably the most stable in the industry. And remember, Day-Date in platinum is exceedingly rare.
The entire Swiss watch industry only exports about 12,000 platinum watches a year, out of about 24 million watches.
In addition, we must all realize that not everybody 'trusts' complications, because of reliability concerns and high repair costs.
Let me give you an example: The Captain of industry or some other 'big shot' who can afford any Patek that he wants. But what does he buy and wear? A simple $11,000 Calatrava on a strap that only keeps time.
When you add it all up, it's not surprising that the Rolex you mentioned has such a high resale value. Sometimes, a 'less complicated' or simpler watch will be easier for the jeweler 'to move.'

Really, when you think about it, there are obviously a lot more wealthy people who are not WIS, than there are WISs. So obviously a Rolex Plat would sell easier. Morgan

but I love my WG 5036. it is crystal clear on the dial and has a nice weight much like the platinum rolex president. To me, I find the patek more interesting to look at.
