Rolex Platinum v Patek Complication

That is a very interesting observation. Indeed, I know quite a few wealthy individuals who do not put ten seconds into thinking about their watches. Most, if not all these people, wear inexpensive "boring" watches that people on this forum would eschew. And, as you say, there is something to be said about simplicity. In a practical sense, do I really need a watch to tell me the month and day of the week? Usually I know these facts already and if not, I can readily ascertain them. The power reserve function also is usually not necessary, especially if the watch is worn frequently or kept on a winder.
There is no denying the Patek 5036 is an exquisite watch. But that does not necessarily mean that a person should necessarily prefer it over a less rarified timepiece.

Really, when you think about it, there are obviously a lot more wealthy people who are not WIS, than there are WISs. So obviously a Rolex Plat would sell easier. Morgan

I can get new Patek watches on the 'Gray' market here in Los Angeles. But you don't see Rolex on the gray market, you simply see them at 'second-hand' stores. I was, in fact, surprised to find this Gray market Patek dealer. And the watches were not fakes,...

but I love my WG 5036. it is crystal clear on the dial and has a nice weight much like the platinum rolex president. To me, I find the patek more interesting to look at.
