Rolex is a strange creature. When I first started off in horology, it was ABR (anything but Rolex!!!), as I felt that it was the easy choice, and tbh, it felt like it was the choice of the non WIS... Poeple bought rolexes to 'tick the box', not because of a love of horology.
But as you get older, and more experienced, real life sets in. When travelling off the beaten track, no-one wants to take a high end wrist piece. Imagine you go on a hike, might have a swim, surrounded by water, or mud..... lets just say not the lobby of a four seasons hotel!!! I found a gap in my collection, in that I wanted to keep wearing a swiss mechanical watch, but what could I take??
So I chose a modern sub, with a slight twist in the green bezel, and this watch has been with me on many an adventure.
I have other watches, but when I am unsure as to how the day will pan out, where there is a risk of activities that might not be ideal for the scratch magnet AP, or a leather strapped dress watch, out comes the Sub!
